Bukit Lawang - brings back some lovley memories. Steve Hammond, Dot and I travelled there in 1992. Same situation as Margaret recalls. Poor funding, exotic location, and animals so close to us in emotional looks that one must believe Darwin.

Orang Utan in Indonesian literally means "people of the forest". Indonesians see the uncanny resemblance as well.

Very memorable. Glad you were able to experience it too.
